IT’S not the quickest way to Huddersfield’s McDonald’s, as anyone familiar with the town will know.

But the fast food chain’s new advert, currently on TV screens, was filmed in Huddersfield and certainly shows off the town.

Starting at Viaduct Street underneath the railway arches, an actor is seen walking along John William Street – away from the Kirkgate eaterie.

He breaks into song – a version of the My Fair Lady tune On The Streets Where You Live by British R&B star Mr Hudson – then heads back up Kirkgate, with its one-off sweet shop, before taking in Fartown’s launderette.

He then pops up to Marsh, later to return to near where he started.

The advert shows the town in magnificent glory with snapshots of its architecture on display.

Filming took place during the last week of September and the advert hit TV screens this week.

McDonald’s marketing manager Steve Hill said: “We looked at various places to film the advert but we picked Huddersfield for the architecture and the backdrop, plus there’s a great restaurant to film in as well.”
