A WORKMAN discovered a Longwood cannabis farm.

But the homeowner and alleged culprit fled before police could get to the Longwood address yesterday.

A British Gas workman had called at a house on Grove Nook but phoned police when he smelt cannabis at around 10am.

Police had to get a warrant to enter the property and discovered what they’ve called a small cannabis farm inside.

But they have not been able to find the suspect cannabis grower, who fled the property once the alarm was raised.

Police were last night investigating the find at the terraced house.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “A man rang us after noticing a smell of cannabis at the house.

“He’d gone there believing the metre was damaged and reported a strong smell to us, but we had to obtain a warrant before we could enter the premises.

“Scenes of Crime Officers were at the house and YEDL attended and made the property safe.”

No-one has been arrested and if anyone who can help police locate the suspect cannabis grower is asked to contact them on 101.
