Cowcliffe Liberal Club has celebrated its centenary.

And their anniversary event on Saturday raised more than £3,000 for Help For Heroes.

Around 500 people attended the celebration with a handful dressed in traditional costumes.

Stalls, raffles and face painting were on offer with aacts taking to an outdoor stage to provide musical accompaniment.

The choir from St Hilda’s Church kicked off the music ahead of four other acts.

Organiser Mike Riley said: “We had a good crowd and the sun shone so we couldn’t have asked for anymore.

“Raffle prizes were kindly donated which has to helped us raise as much money as we could for Help For Heroes.

“With it being our centenary year we wanted a theme and a military charity seemed fitting.

“The focus wasn’t raising money, it was a celebration of the club and a chance to bring the community together.”

The event also featured a stall with old photos of the area and the club’s members through the decades.
