We've shown you the great buildings that were part of Huddersfield's manufacturing heritage — and now, here are the people that kept the machines whirring.

Many men and women from across Huddersfield and Kirklees spent their days down t'mill to earn a crust, and their hard work has been caught on film in these pictures, some dating back to 1910.

Part of the Kirklees Council archives, these photographs show some of the employees and directors that made up our town's rich mill history, from working on the looms and in the dye rooms, to bagging up and weighing rags in textile mills.

Huddersfield has a proud history of manufacturing — and some textile, chemical and engineering companies still operate in our town today.

Take a look through our gallery — it may even contain a distant relative.
