BAT experts are out to prove the good points about their favourite mammals at two viewing days.

The gatherings are being held at Sunny Bank Pond nature reserve, Mirfield, tomorrow at 8.15pm and at Lower Spen nature reserve on September 16, starting at 7.50pm.

Richard Humphris, of West Yorkshire Bat Group, said: "Bats are often associated with witchcraft and superstition and generally get bad press.

"But once people learn that they are really clean and useful animals that eat up to 3,000 midges in a night and prefer new homes to old ones because they don't like cobwebs, they begin to think differently about them."
