TOWN will be stepping on to the lush Old Trafford pitch tomorrow – and leaving a very bare one behind in Huddersfield.
Work on relaying the Galpharm pitch is well underway and all the top soil has now been removed and stacked on the stadium’s car park. The new £700,000 pitch will be an updated version of the original Desso Grassmaster surface used by both the football club and the Giants.
Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd managing director Gareth Davies said: "The beauty of Desso Grassmaster is that it is essentially a natural grass pitch with plastic fibres interwoven into the surface to give it greater durability. It is identical to that in place at 13 of the 20 Premier League grounds and also at Wembley Stadium."
Let’s hope Town will be in the Championship when they next set foot on it.
