SHE’S only just old enough to drink.
But Lorna Horner has enough expertise in the booze trade to have scooped a top award.
Lorna, 19, is stewardess at the Cowcliffe Liberal Club and the club has just been awarded the Campaign For Real Ale prize as the region’s best mild club.
The prize was given to the busy Cowcliffe club, which serves Timothy Taylor’s dark mild and Golden Best.
“I don’t like mild myself” laughed Lorna, “I’m more of a cider drinker”.
Lorna, who is single and from Birkby, worked at the club for a year behind the bar and jumped at the opportunity to go for the stewardess’ job when the vacancy came up in April.
She impressed club officials at the interview and they had no hesitation in giving her the job.
She said: “I had worked there for a year and really enjoyed it, so I was thrilled when I got the job.
“It is hard work, but I’m slowly getting used to the cellar work with all the barrels and pumps for all the different beers.
“It is a busy little club and very friendly. We have a bowling green out the back and we also have pool, snooker, cards and dominoes teams, so there is always something going on”.
