LOTTERY winner Susan Crossland has shared the wealth by buying three giant hampers for a charity.

She made the donation to St Andrew’s Alzheimer’s Support Group, which meets every Tuesday afternoon at St Andrew’s Church in Mirfield.

Susan, who scooped £1.2m on the National Lottery in 2008, and husband Michael delivered the hampers on Tuesday.

She said: “I realise how lucky I am to have won the National Lottery and since my win I have been able to get involved with a number of charities.

“I’d heard about the St Andrew’s Alzheimer’s Support Group and I really wanted to help out.

“It’s been fantastic to meet the patients and I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and that they enjoy the hampers.”

Group organiser Cath Knowles said: “It’s been great having Susan and Michael join us and everyone is very grateful for their kind donation.

“The Christmas hampers have really helped to get everyone in the festive spirit and everyone has really enjoyed the treats.”

Cath set-up the support group in 2006 and welcomes approximately 50 patients each week.

They take part in a variety of activities including singing, dancing and quizzes. The group also provides support to carers.
