Two lanes were closed on the M62 after a car crashed into the central reservation.

The accident occurred just after 6pm eastbound in between junctions 22 at Outlane and 23 at Ainley Top.

According to Insp Carlton Young, of West Yorkshire Police, the driver of a red VW Polo lost control when the rear passenger wheel came off.

The car plunged into the barrier, spinning 180 degrees in the process.

Fortunately no one was hurt in the accident, which did not affect any passing traffic and those in the car managed to get to safety.

Highways England attended the scene to remove the car and had to close the outer two lanes eastbound for around 45 minutes.
