AN accident on the M62 has caused traffic congestion around Huddersfield.
The busy motorway was fully closed eastbound at junction 26 just after 1.15pm after a car collided with the central reservation. A woman was freed from the vehicle by firefighters suffering from leg injuries, which are not thought to life threatening.
One lane was re-opened just after 2pm but congestion has spread to surrounding routes, including the A644 Wakefield Road at Cooper Bridge.
The jams are delaying buses, including Arriva services 202, 203 and 278, with delays of more than 30 minutes.
All lanes on the M62 have now been re-opened but traffic is queuing back to junction 22 at Rishworth, with journey times delayed by more than an hour.
Congestion is also affecting the M62 westbound near Leeds after an earlier incident.
