Welcome to the Examiner's breaking news service.

The M62 motorway's eastbound carriage has been closed due to an ongoing police incident.

The carriageway is currently shut between junctions 25 for Brighouse and 26 for Chain Bar and the M606. Diversions are in place and traffic is being brought off at Brighouse and re-routed.

Congestion is heavy and spreading back up to Ainley Top. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible. Highways England have confirmed the closure between these two junctions and say police and emergency services are currently at the scene.
