WORK on a £150m scheme to ease congestion on the busiest stretch of the M62 is due to start this autumn.

The contract for the "managed motoprway" project was awarded today to a joint venture company.

bmJV will carry out work to allow drivers to use the hard-shoulder on the busy motorway between Junction 25 at Brighouse and Junction 30 at Rothwell.

There will also be variable speed limits in force to try and keep traffic flowing.
