Roadworks will see part of the M62 near Ainley Top closed overnight this week.

The Highways Agency is planning work and the closure will run each night from 8pm until 6am.

A Highways Agency spokesman said it was for routine patching, adding: “There will be a full closure between the slipways westbound at junction 24 overnight on November 28 between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.

“There will be a full closure of the westbound exit slip for two nights on November 27 and November 29 between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.”

A forward plan shows there is further work planned for the M62 before Christmas.

The Highways Agency is planning work in December between junction 22 and junction 23 as part of the national Pinch Point Programme.

The £55,000 project will see extra CCTV added along the stretch of motorway.

Installation of a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras will provide the Agency with more cameras to monitor the motorway and improve incident clear-up times.
