A MAN found dead next to a West Yorkshire reservoir is originally from Latvia.

The body of 41-year-old Imants Tracums was discovered on Friday lunchtime next to Booth Wood Reservoir between the motorway and the A672 Oldham Road at Rishworth.

Mr Tracums, who was born in Latvia, lived in Leeds.

Police believe the find is connected to a car which was abandoned on the M62 after a crash two days earlier. A missing person’s enquiry was launched after the car was found unoccupied.

A post mortem has taken place and the death is being dealt with by Calderdale coroners office.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

Police closed the nearside lane of the eastbound carriageway between junction 22 at Windy Hill and junction 23 at Outlane to allow searches to be made close to the hard shoulder. It caused long tailbacks.
