Drivers using the M62 motorway could face delays and diversions due to roadworks.

Three slip roads will be closed overnight near Huddersfield forcing motorists onto other routes.

The Highways Agency is set to begin roadworks around the Ainley Top section on Monday, lasting up to four weeks.

The works mean the eastbound exit slip road and the westbound entry at J24 will be closed to vehicles from 8pm each night.

It will reopen by 6am on weekdays.

But on Saturdays it will not open until 9am and on Sundays will remain closed until about 10am.

The closures mean people leaving Huddersfield to head to Manchester before 6am or after 8pm will have to go to J23 Outlane to get on the motorway.

Motorists coming from the west to north Huddersfield or Calderdale will also need to exit a junction early at Outlane or continue to J25 Brighouse.

Junction 22 eastbound exit (Windy Hill) will also be affected by the same restrictions.

The Highways Agency says the work is for resurfacing, drainage repairs, road markings and general maintenance.
