Police closed the M62 last night after a four-car accident on the M62 near Outlane.

Fire crews from Huddersfield and Elland were called out at 7.26pm to the incident, which happened on the westbound carriageway just on the Manchester side of Junction 23 at Outlane.

One car had flipped on to its roof and was in the outside lane. The ambulance attended and police gave oxygen to one man.

There were no serious injuries.

It was a busy night for the Elland fire crew. On their return from the four-car collision, there were called to deal with a blazing tree behind the Angel pub at Paddock Head roundabout.

Wood and rubbish on a flat roof at the rear of the former pub had been set alight and the blaze had spread to a nearby tree, sending flames shooting up to 10 feet into the air.

The crew doused the fire and there were no injuries.
