McALPINE Stadium chief Ralph Rimmer is ready to spill blood, sweat and tears in an effort to raise cash for seriously injured rugby league player Danny Scott.

The chief executive of Rugby Super League club Huddersfield Giants, who earlier this month announced he had taken up kick-boxing, will fight a bout in Buxton on Saturday May 22.

He is hoping his efforts prove profitable for Moldgreen player Danny, who has been left paralysed after suffering a serious neck injury in a Pennine League game earlier this year.

Mr Rimmer said: "I was desperate to do my bit to help Danny, and tying it in with my kick-boxing debut seemed the ideal way.

"What I intend to do is sell my fight for £5 a second.

"If I last the whole contest it will go on for 360 seconds.

"But if I go down, the individual who has bought the second in which I have fallen will win a VIP day out at a Giants game of their choice for two.

"In the event that I win the bout or stay up until the end, I'll donate all the cash to Danny's fund."

As well as inviting people to buy a particular second, Mr Rimmer is looking for bids for the Giants shirt he will be wearing when he enters the arena.

He will get all the Giants Super League squad to sign the shirt.

"I am sure there are one or two chief executives and chairmen of other Super League clubs, as well as a number of players, who would take great delight in getting their hands on the shirt I would be wearing if I got knocked out!"
