LITTLE Harry Crowther has been rubbing shoulders with the stars.

Harry, battling a rare disease, and his mum Sharron were in the sunshine of Majorca to meet soap stars from Coronation Street and EastEnders at a special break for the brave youngster.

Harry, of Mirfield, was one of the guests of honour at a star-studded charity premiere of the Pirates Ultimate Adventure Show in Majorca in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The spectacular show was filled with action, dance, acrobatics and comedy, and was attended by children from the hospital and their families all of whom were flown to the island and treated to a week’s holiday courtesy of First Choice Holidays.

Eleven-year-old Harry is a patient at the hospital because of a rare condition which means he is ageing prematurely.

He is the only boy in the world to suffer from a rare form of A-typical Progeria Syndrome, meaning he is ageing five times faster than his friends.

The schoolboy has already been diagnosed with arthritis and takes painkillers four times a day to relieve him from the aches and pains a pensioner may suffer.

His skin has also started to thin as the ageing process takes hold and the bones in his fingers and collar bone have begun to erode.

But he put the aches and pains behind him to mingle with celebrities including EastEnders’ Steve McFadden, Linda Henry and Cheryl Fergison, Coronation Street actresses Sue Cleaver and Brooke Vincent, Loose Women’s Claire Sweeney, celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke and club owner Peter Stringfellow.

Mum Sharron, deputy manager at Wellhouse pre-school in Mirfield, said: “Harry and I had the most amazing week meeting the other GOSH families in Majorca.

“We also got to meet the stars. Claire Sweeney, Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen, and Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, both of Coronation Street, were in our hotel.

“The others were at the premiere and Harry thought it was wonderful.

“Thanks very much to Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity, First Choice and of course the amazing Pirates for such a wonderful holiday filled with treasured memories.

“You have all been fantastic”

The Pirates Adventure Charity Premiere successfully raised over 64,000 euros towards the Theatres for Theatres appeal at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The initiative will help treat children with complex neurological and craniofacial conditions by funding state-of-the-art operating theatres.

Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal aims to raise £4m to fund two much-needed operating theatres, which will help critically ill neurosciences patients.

Harry and his mum enjoyed a week’s holiday staying at the Aparthotel AquaSol in Palma Nova.
