A HUDDERSFIELD man died in a crash at Sowerby Bridge this morning.

Three Huddersfield men were in a red Peugeot 306 car that crashed into two walls on West Street at 12.44am today.

There were no other vehicles involved.

A rear seat passenger - a 20-year-old man - was pronounced dead at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

A second rear seat passenger - a 26-year-old man, was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, received minor injuries. He was treated at hospital and released.

A 21-year-old Huddersfield man was arrested over the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly a lorry driver who may have seen the Peugeot shortly before the accident. Contact Calderdale traffic police on 01422 318146.
