A MAN has been shot in Huddersfield.

The 21-year-old was blasted in the foot while walking with friends in Coule Royd, Dalton, at 5pm yesterday.

Armed police swooped on the area after the shooting and Coule Royd was sealed off.

But the gunman escaped.

The shot man was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Police are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

It is understood the gunman could have been in a car.

Det Con Russ Conlon, from Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “The road was closed off for several hours for a full forensic examination, including a fingertip search.

“We need to speak urgently to anyone who saw what happened and may have a description of any vehicle or the people involved.’’
