Police are appealing for information after a 28-year-old man was stabbed in a disturbance on North Carr in the Dalton area of Huddersfield.

Detective Sergeant Mark Taylor, from Kirklees District CID, said police were called to reports of disorder involving around five men on North Carr at midday on Sunday.

He added: "On arrival at the scene a 28-year-old local man was found to have sustained a serious injury to his arm and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

"The investigation is progressing and officers have arrested two local men in connection with the incident and they both currently remain in police custody.

"We believe the incident was a targeted attack and do not consider there to be any wider danger to local people. Additional neighbourhood officers have been deployed in the area to provide reassurance to residents.

"I would appeal to any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident and not yet spoken to police to come forward. There may also be people with information that can assist the investigation and I would encourage them to contact police."
