A 29-YEAR-OLD Huddersfield man has admitted attempting to rape a woman in the town, more than 12 years after the attack.

Andrew McMullen, of Ashfield Street, Fartown, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

Judge Kerry Macgill told him he faced a prison sentence.

McMullen, who was 17 at the time of the attack in February 1992, is understood to have admitted the offence after forensic tests linked him to the crime.

His barrister Stephen Wood told the court that it would be part of his client's mitigation that he was very remorseful.

Judge Macgill remanded McMullen in custody to await his sentence in about six weeks.
