A MAN is recovering in hospital after he was slashed in the face during a brawl in Birkby.
Police were called to Blacker Road on Wednesday teatime and sealed off several streets following a fracas.
An ambulance and rapid response paramedic car were dispatched to the street at about 5.45pm.
The 36-year-old suffered stab wounds to the face and remains in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. He was also arrested on suspicion of affray and drugs offences.
A 29-year-old man was found after attempting to flee the scene in a Ford Fiesta.
He was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault and drugs offences and is still in custody.
Several streets around the area were cordoned off for around three hours.
