A man has been arrested after a fire at a flat in Rastrick last night.
A 24-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital after escaping from the blaze at a ground floor flat on Burnsall Road at 8.50pm.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We were called by the fire brigade to a flat on Burnsall Road at 9.05pm. A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital.
“Enquiries remain ongoing but it is being treated as arson and a 24-year-old man has been arrested.”
Elland watch commander Stephen Bates said: “There were flames coming out of the windows when we arrived and lots of smoke.
“Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered and the fire started in the lounge area.”
Fire crews were at the scene for two and a half hours and will return today to share fire safety advice with neighbours.
