A man arrested after a suspected pitbull-type dog bit a three-year-old boy has been released on bail.

The 21-year-old was arrested and quizzed by police investigating the attack.

Police have also seized a dog and tests will be carried out to determine whether it is a breed banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The man has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The boy, who has not been named, was walking in Elmwood Close, Highfields, Huddersfield, with his father when two dogs came running up.

The boy was scared and his dad picked him up. One of the dogs jumped up and bit the boy on the calf.

He was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary and needed stitches. He is now recovering at home.
