Police have arrested a man following an attack at the home of a pensioner.
A 28-year-old Huddersfield man was today in custody after being arrested in connection with an assault and burglary in Crowtrees Lane, Rastrick .
The Rastrick incident happened at around 5.15pm last Wednesday when a burglary took place at the house of a 70-year-old widow.
According to police the woman was in the house and was assaulted before the burglary took place.
She was badly shaken by the incident and was being cared for by relatives afterwards.
Scenes-of-crime officers (SOCOs) attended the gated detached house and set up a blue and white tent outside.
Her neighbours reported seeing a broken window pane and learning about what had happened the following morning.
A man was spotted hanging around the neighbourhood prior to the crime.
The arrest was believed to be connected to police presence at a house in Commercial Road, Skelmanthorpe reported by residents on Sunday night and Monday morning.
