A man arrested in connection with a firearms incident in Crosland Moor has been released on bail.

Police were called to Moor End Road at 5pm on Tuesday after reports that a shot was fired.

Suspects fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf. Later there were reports of a heavy police presence in Dewsbury town centre and the force helicopter circled the town for about half-an-hour.

The drama then switched to Lock Street, off Headfield Road at Thornhill Lees, where armed officers and police with dogs descended. A man was later arrested and a vehicle was seized.
