A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly man died in Huddersfield.

Police swooped on a semi-detached house on Alder Street, Fartown at about 8.30pm last night following reports of an assault.

They found a 75-year-old man in a serious condition outside the property.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

The suspect remains in police custody and a post mortem is due to take place today.
