A man was attacked and a number of vehicles damaged after a car chase through Dewsbury.

The victim was chased in his car through the streets by four vehicles, before he pulled into a car park, where he was then assaulted.

The victim’s black Honda Civic was initially followed from the Shell petrol station on Bradford Road, Batley, by two cars.

They were then joined by another two cars, and the four vehicles chased the Honda Civic into Batley Carr and then back into Dewsbury, before the Civic pulled into the Cliffe Street car park.

A 21-year-old Dewsbury man was then assaulted and his car damaged by the men.

Police were called to the car park around 1am on Thursday.

Detectives said the 21-year-old was not seriously injured in the assault. But they said several vehicles were damaged in the incidents.

Det Insp Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “This sort of behaviour is utterly unacceptable and we would like to speak to anyone who has information.

“I would like in particular to speak to anyone who saw a black Honda Civic being pursed by four cars on Bradford Road into Batley Carr and then back to Dewsbury.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault on the victim and the attack on his car in the Cliffe Street car park.”
