A man was badly hurt in an accident.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a collision in Dewsbury last night.

The collision happened at 11.35pm on the A644 Huddersfield Road outside the Shepherds Boy public house and involved a grey Ford Mondeo and a 41-year-old male pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious head and facial injuries.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision itself or who believes they saw the vehicle or pedestrian involved immediately prior to this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Western Area Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team via 101.
