A MAN banned from much of Huddersfield town centre has appeared in court for the second time in less than a month.

Lexus Wakefield, of Richmond Flats in Southgate, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

The 29-year-old is subject to a strict anti-social behaviour order.

This bans him from entering shops, takeaways and restaurants in the town.

Wakefield has admitted entering Malikia’s Grill on Cross Church Street on July 13.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing £5 of sweets from Poundland and entering the Victoria Lane store.

Wakefield admitted going into the Mind charity shop in John William Street on June 23.

In addition he agreed that he failed to attend a drugs assessment appointment.

The three-year Asbo was granted by an application by Kirklees Council and the British Transport Police.

Under the order Wakefield is also banned from entering the railway and bus stations.

Magistrates were asked to adjourn the case to allow him to attend a new appointment with the Lifeline Kirklees drug and alcohol treatment service.

Mike Sisson-Pell, defending, said: “He stole sweets because his benefits were stopped because he was in court.

“He’s committing further offences if he goes into a shop, restaurant or takeaway.

“He lives on the ring road so we have these breaches and this needs to be addressed.

“This young man is in a terrible downward spiral unless he gets some positive help.”

Magistrates agreed to adjourn Wakefield’s case until August 8.

His bail condition is that he attends his Lifeline appointment.
