A MAN has appeared in court accused of producing thousands of pounds worth of drugs.

Kyle Wells, of Sheepridge Road, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is charged with growing cannabis at a property in Deighton on Thursday July 19.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said that on that date police searched the property.

She said that they found 20 cannabis plants and related growing equipment.

Ms Fowler said that the estimated potential street value of the drugs was over £7,000.

Wells, 20, gave no indication as to what his plea will be.

Magistrates agreed that the case should be dealt with by Leeds Crown Court.

Wells will first appear back in the Huddersfield court on Wednesday January 30.

Unconditional bail was granted.
