A MAN has appeared in court accused of stealing hundreds of pounds worth of sports equipment.

Steven Milner, of Primrose Hill, was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

He is alleged to have used a delivery to Sports Direct on Great Northern Retail Park to gain access to the store.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said: “A male sneaked in while a delivery was taking place.

“While the lorry was driving away he appeared out of the premises with a cage of goods.”

Just under £800 worth of goods are estimated to have been taken from the store.

Milner, 41, denies the theft on October 2. He has admitted another charge of criminal damage.

On September 28 he damaged three fire doors belonging to Kirklees Council at Bishops Court in Berry Brow.

He will next appear before the court for trial on February 24.

His bail condition is that he attends the police station the day before the trial.
