A MAN smashed a window at a council owned property after drinking.

Anthony Allott, of Moorside Avenue in Dewsbury, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted criminal damage on July 6 at his home, which is managed by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing.

The Huddersfield court was told that the day previously Allott had been drinking all day.

He argued with his partner about benefits money and gone and bought a bottle of cider.

Allott left his home but when he returned the following day, his partner refused him entry.

He picked up a stone threw it at the window and it shattered.

The window cost an estimated £100 to repair.

Allott told magistrates he had a drink problem but was getting help.

They ordered him to pay £100 compensation to the council.
