A 48-year-old man will appear in court on Monday accused of a rape in Huddersfield 21 years ago.

The man was arrested after advances in DNA technology led to a re-investigation of the rape of a 49-year-old woman in the Bradley Mills area on November 1, 1987.

He will appear for trial at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.

The man, who has not been named, was arrested in December 2007 by officers from Operation Recall.

This is run by officers from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team which uses recent advances in DNA technology to reassess previously undetected cases.
