A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his nine-year-old brother.

Daniel Taylor, 20, of Bradford, is accused of murdering his younger brother Jack Taylor.

He is also charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to sister Rachel Taylor, 18, following an incident at her house, last Thursday.

Shaven-headed Daniel Taylor, dressed in a black jumper and blue tracksuit

bottoms, spoke only to confirm his name at Bradford Crown Court.

Taylor looked across the courtroom to his heartbroken parents Louise and Tim, who were at court along with younger sister Elisha, 16, throughout the 10-minute hearing.

Half way through the short hearing, dad Tim, walked out of the courtroom.

Abdul Iftikhar, defending, said Taylor had a psychiatric history and would need to be assessed before his next court appearance.

Prosecutor Thomas Klouda agreed and Taylor, who folded his arms and bit his nails during the hearing, was told he will next be brought before the court on June 11 for a plea and case management hearing.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge James Stewart QC, said he would list a five-day trial on September 13.

Taylor made no application for bail and was remanded in custody. As he was led away, a member of his family emotionally shouted “Bye”.

It is believed that Rachel, who was treated at Bradford Royal Infirmary for a wound to her arm, has now left hospital.
