Two men were injured in a car crash involving a taxi in Dewsbury.

One driver had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters after the two car collision in Mill Street East, near its junction with Warren Street.

Both drivers suffered injuries in the accident, which happened just after 9pm on Tuesday, but neither was seriously hurt.

A police spokesman said the accident involved a Vauxhall Insignia and a Honda.

“We were called by the ambulance service just after 9pm to a collision between two cars in Mill Street East.

“The two male drivers both received slight injuries in the accident but neither was seriously hurt and both were able to arrange recovery of their own vehicles.”

He said highways officers attended the scene of the accident to clear debris from the road which was closed for some time.
