A MAN has been banned from the roads for drink driving.

Aaron Maragh, 30, was convicted at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He was stopped by police as drove his Alfa Romeo along Leeds Road, Huddersfield, in the evening of November 17.

Maragh had been speeding but when officers pulled him over they could smell alcohol on his breath.

Further tests revealed him to have 94 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The legal limit is 80mg.

Maragh, of Kingston Close in Halifax, also had no valid insurance as he had been in the process of buying the car.

District Judge Marie Mallon was told that Maragh had been at a restaurant and thought he’d had only a modest amount of alcohol.

He said he was disappointed in himself as he had already attended a drink-driving course and felt he had learned to deal with his issues.

Judge Mallon banned Maragh from driving for three years because he already had a similar conviction.

She also ordered him to pay £250 fine, £15 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
