A MAN has been banned from the wheel after driving drunk.

Mohammed Ayoub, 23, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted drink-driving at Bradford Road in Batley on July 9.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said that Ayoub was spotted by an officer on mobile patrol at just before 1am. She said: “His attention was drawn to his vehicle because he was driving at excessive speed and braking erratically.

“He spoke to the driver and he smelt strongly of intoxicants.”

A roadside breath test revealed that he had 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Magistrates banned Ayoub, of Craven Street in Ravensthorpe, from driving for 12 months. They also ordered him to pay a £130 fine, £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
