A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man was detained by detectives investigating the death of 28-year-old Brighouse woman Cherie Bendig.

She was found dead in a bedroom at a house on Smith House Avenue in Brighouse at about 7.30pm on Friday, January 6.

The investigation is being headed by Det Supt Phil Sedgwick from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

The man was being questioned today.

Cherie had lost both her parents when she was very young.

And her brother, Richard, died in a house fire in Bailiff Bridge, nine years ago when he was just 19.

Cherie had a nine-year- old daughter, who is now being cared for by family.
