A MAN held up by a young gunman admitted last night: “I’m still shaking”.

William O’Brien, 50, was robbed at gunpoint as he worked at John’s Books in Manchester Road, Milnsbridge.

And police are linking the raid with one three days later at a shop in Cowlersley.

In each case, the robber was a very tall skinny man with a scarf masking his face.

The adult bookshop was held up at lunchtime on December 29 – and it happened with a police car parked just 100 yards away in a layby on Manchester Road.

Mr O’Brien said: “I was on my own and heard the outer door go. There is a second door and I thought it was taking some time for someone to come in when this lad burst in.

“He must have been putting his mask on in the doorway.

“He pushed a gun right into my face, with the barrel just inches from my eyes, and shouted: ‘Give me the money’.

“I was terrified. I opened the till and gave him £50 and he ran from the shop.

“I’m still trembling days later just thinking about it”.

The youth walked out into Manchester Road and is then thought to have disappeared down a snicket leading down towards the River Colne and canal.

Armed police were called and searched the area with dogs.

The gunman is described as being a white man, around 30-years old, slim and around 6ft 6ins tall. He spoke with a Lancashire accent and was wearing a black hooded top, gloves, black tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

The other raid happened on Sunday, January 2, at Sonal Stores in Cowlersley Lane.

The youth brandished a gun and demanded cash and fled on foot towards Manchester Road.
