AN ELDERLY motorist was treated in hospital for facial injuries after ricocheting off a speed bump and hitting a garden wall.

The Barnsley man was driving his Proton Persona along Barnsley Road at Flockton at 3.50pm yesterday when he hit a traffic calming measure on the road.

The impact forced him over the pavement and into the wall of a garden.

The man received minor facial injuries and was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital for treatment.

His car was badly damaged as a result of the incident.

The main road was temporarily closed off while road traffic police worked at the scene for around one hour. It caused minor disruption.
