A MIDDLE-aged man has been badly hurt in a shotgun attack close to Brighouse town centre.

The 52-year-old was blasted in the stomach.

The attack happened close to the railway viaduct in the Bridge End area of Brighouse shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday.

He managed to stagger to a nearby taxi office where the police were alerted.

The victim was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where his condition today is said to be "stable and not life-threatening."

Four men from Halifax were later arrested. Three aged 20, 22 and 28 have now been released on police bail.

The fourth man, also in his 20s, was still being questioned by detectives today.

Police have appealed for help from witnesses and anyone with information.
