A man was kicked and beaten on his own doorstep early today.

Now police in Huddersfield are appealing for information after the attempted robbery in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened around 1:30am on Springdale Avenue, Thornton Lodge , in Huddersfield.

A 22-year-old man was approached at his front door as he had just got back from the shop, when a suspect punched him in the back of his head. He turned around and was punched for a second time and tripped on the doorstep causing him to fall to the floor.

Whilst on the floor, the suspect kicked the victim to his head and body demanding money and his phone.

The victim managed to get to his feet and ran off down the street and managed to flag down a passing vehicle. The suspect fled the scene and no property was stolen.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25-30, slim build, around 5ft 8”, short dark hair. He was wearing a long sleeved hoodie covering his head, dark blue jogging bottoms, trainers and a dark coloured balaclava over his face.

He spoke broken English with an Eastern European accent.

Det Con Divek Singh Ubhi, of Huddersfield CID, said: “We are appealing any information about this incident - thankfully the victim managed to escape with only minor injuries, but was shaken up from this ordeal.
