TWO Marsden men have appeared in court accused of an attack which left a man unconscious in the snow.

Sean Annandale, 20, and Vaughan Longmore, 18, were before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

The pair face joint charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Magistrates were told that the alleged attack happened in Marsden on Sunday.

They heard that the victims, a man in his 50s and another man aged 31, had been out drinking in the village.

Prosecutor Alex Bozman said that as a result of the alleged attack one of the men was left unconscious in the snow in the middle of the road.

He added that the man had to be hospitalised as a result of his injuries, which he described as serious.

Neither Annandale, of Woods Terrace, nor Longmore, of Dirker Avenue, entered pleas at the hearing.

Magistrates sent them to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The men will first appear there next Monday.

They were remanded in custody until that date.
