A FORGETFUL man started a house fire when he left a pan of chips on the cooker and went to bed.
The blaze, which caused smoke and fire damage to the kitchen of a house on Bradley Mills Road, Bradley Mills, was spotted by a neighbour who raised the alarm at 2.20am on Christmas Day.
The fire was put out by fire crews from Huddersfield.
One firefighter said: “The smoke alarm had sounded but it failed to wake him up. He was very lucky that a neighbour noticed.”
