A MAN was appearing in court today charged with the murder of a woman found dead in Dewsbury.

The man, aged 27, has been charged with killing Susan Cooper.

Her partly decomposed body was found wrapped in bin liners and duvets near the Calder and Hebble Navigation Canal at Thornhill.

The body of Ms Cooper, 30, formerly of Bradford, was found beside the waterway in Hall Lane shortly before 2pm on Monday by a man out for a walk.

Police said Ms Cooper died a number of weeks ago.

A post-mortem showed she had a number of unexplained injuries.

It is believed that Ms Cooper had been living in a hostel in Thornhill for a number of weeks.

The accused man, who comes from the Dewsbury area, was appearing before the town's magistrates.
