A MAN with alcohol and drug problems appeared in court yesterday accused of theft.

Richard Frost is accused of stealing Fosters lager worth £52, Strongbow cider costing £45 and £15 worth of air freshener.

Frost, 31, of Cemetery Road, Westtown, Dewsbury, pleaded guilty to stealing the lager at Tesco Express in Cemetery Road on May 15.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to stealing the cider on the following day and the air freshener on May 12.

Prosecutor Paul Ramsey said the defendant also pleaded guilty to a domestic violence offence involving his mother Diane Frost at her home in Mackenzie Court, Batley Carr.

Mr Ramsey said: “He has made requests for money and was tapping on the window asking for money. His mother ignored him and he threatened to put the windows through.

“He caused it to smash and then ran off. She was petrified and a neighbour called the police.”

Arfaq Nabi, representing the defendant, said he had gone to his mother’s house to “sort things out”.

The bench bailed him to his uncle’s address in Church Walk, Paddock, and told him not to go within 100m of Mackenzie Court or to contact his mother and another woman, Jean Watson.

The case was adjourned until July 3 so a probation report could be prepared.
