A driver was robbed at gunpoint outside his own home in broad daylight.

The victim was getting out of his car when was approached by a man who brandished what is thought to be a handgun.

The terrifying incident, which happened on North Street in Lockwood on Tuesday morning, saw the victim hand over £1,000 cash.

The robber demanded money and the man handed over his bag which contained the cash as well as a mobile phone.

A second man was standing nearby as a look out and both suspects ran off through a garden on North Street.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the attack, which took place between 11.30am and 11.45am, to come forward.

Det Con Kris Roberts, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim who was threatened with what is believed to be a handgun. Thankfully he was not injured during his ordeal but is very shaken up.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed this incident or recognise the descriptions of the two suspects.”

The first suspect is described as an Asian male, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build and in his early 20s.

The second is described as around 5ft 9in tall, also slim and wearing a balaclava.
