A man was treated in hospital after he was assaulted and robbed in his own home in Thornton Lodge last night.

The nasty attack happened at 9.45pm at a house in Kingsley Avenue when a man entered the property by climbing up to the first floor window. whilst the male occupant was downstairs.

The suspect then went downstairs into the living room and assaulted the occupant before taking his mobile phone.

He then left through the rear, ground floor window and fled on foot.

The victim received significant injuries which required hospital treatment.

The suspect was male, aged between 20 – 25, of slim build and was wearing a grey tracksuit with red stripes down the arms.

Detective Constable, Andrew Clayton, of Kirklees CID said: “This was a very unpleasant attack on an individual in his own home which has naturally left him very shocked and shaken. We are keen to trace the suspect as soon as possible and would appeal for any information which could help our enquiries.”
